Who makes you voiceless?: Breakthrough tip for the week of 11/24/2015

There’s really no such thing as the ‘voiceless’. There are only the deliberately silenced or the preferably unheard. -Arundhati Roy, author (b. 24 Nov 1961)

Ah, but in our relatively privileged lives, who silences us? Who silences us so thoroughly that we do not use our voices – and so, go unheard. Who taught you that your voice wasn’t worth hearing – perhaps not teaching openly, but in all the subtle ways that we silence each other? How have you found it easier to avoid the gift you carry – the gift of writing – then to stop your busyness, your care-taking, your obsessive need to get everything right, your immersion into whatever will take feelings away?

Only you know the answers to these questions. Only you have the power to find them. I won’t give a writing prompt this week. There is no need to, but should you write in response to this Breakthrough, please send your words to us.

p.s. Beware. The Season of Avoidance is upon us. Our busyness exponentially increases with all the absolutely-have-to-do details of the holidays. Please pay attention. We are never more enslaved by the media, the corporations and our own driven need to get it right,  than during the holidays.
