Give yourself a half hour in your own company. Set a timer for ten minutes. Imagine that your breath is a pathway moving out ahead of you: a road, a river, an unknown city or town street. Use all your senses and move forward. When the timer goes off, reset it for twenty minutes and begin writing: I have just followed a road known only to me.

Please send us what emerges. If you’ve never sent us your writing, begin now. If you’ve sent writing before, continue.
