If I could draw, I’d post a cartoon of an xmas tree (since the commodification of xmas is the greatest blasphemy of what was once a truly holy time of year) falling over and smashing a writer at her/his work. I imagine many of you know how the artificial responsibilities of the holiday season eat adult time and money – to say nothing of creative energy. For me, I’m declaring a new national holiday. It occurs on January 2 and it’s called: National Freedom From Holiday Hype Day.
